First founded in 1978 as Blue Water Yacht Service, Oceanic Yacht Management combines an old-fashioned craftsman approach to yachting maintenance and services with a fresh perspective that accommodates the needs of discerning yacht owners today. Captain Eric Pearce founded Blue Water Yacht Company in 1978 with a vision to provide bespoke, custom-tailored boating and maintenance services. His hand-crafted approach to service and innovative infrastructure provided captains with support and advice for comprehensive yacht maintenance, operation, and administration (always to the highest quality standards).
Captain Eric creates a new standard of service for clients with the development and implementation of “Emergence Blu.” Intended for times of disaster, Emergence Blu organized all necessary communication and activities to secure all client vessels should severe weather or other disasters threaten their boats and/or yachts.
With an emergent need on behalf of yacht owners to recruit, reference, and certification check, Captain Eric began providing these services and ensuring the validity of medical certificates. He also began providing employment contracts on behalf of the yacht’s owning company while administering payroll disbursement, health insurance, and crew mail.
After considering his future, Captain Eric secured a federal loan to begin building yachts to offer bespoke vessels to prospective owners. By recruiting the best designers, shipyard builders, engineering experts, and contractors, his team and wealth of experience guaranteed premium quality results. From negotiating contracts to monitoring construction and communicating with clients and the other parties involved, Captain Eric quickly made a name for himself.
As a clear client base emerged, Captain Eric refined Blue Water Yacht Company to focus exclusively on yacht and project management. This meant discerning yacht owners could now enjoy a management service that handled everything from financial reporting to the supervision of yard time. By focusing on building his team’s knowledge to deliver artisan, premium quality solutions, Captain Eric offered yacht owners something truly unique: Reduced downtime and costs to implement effective management and budget controls. Clients enjoyed greater safety, enjoyment, and peace of mind as a result.
Far from settling as the “typical yacht management company,” Captain Eric introduced his unique philosophy of serving as a yacht project manager. This introduced a new era of highly personalized services for yacht owners that continue to characterize Oceanic Yacht Management to this day.
Shortly after introducing his new philosophy, Captain Eric secured the first major project management client. Through these services, Blue Water fulfilled shipyard and refit work while preventing common headaches like late delivery, over-budget projects, and failed repairs and upgrades. With a relentless attention to detail, Blue Water served the interests of both owners and captains alike by freeing up time commonly spent managing the responsibilities associated with owning and running larger yachts.
Captain Eric is recognized by the Yachting of Australia Association as Captain of the Year for his innovation in simplifying the entire yachting industry. His busy “back-to-back” charter seasons and ability to help owners maximize use of their vessels earned him the reputation for engineering a globally renowned approach to day-to-day operations, management, planning, and accounting duties aboard the yacht.
